Flippin’ for Change

Flip UltraReady to talk “change”? Good. Because I Am Enabled is holding its first-ever “Go Digital Get Digital” Blogging Contest. It’s exciting. It’s easy. And it’s a great way to express your feelings about digital healthcare—and possibly win a Pure Digital Flip Camera for your efforts!

Here’s how the contest works: simply create a unique and engaging blog post that answers the following questions.

  • How have digital health records changed—or could change—how you manage your family’s (or even extended family’s) health?
  • How would you use a Flip Cam to tell your story?

Then, post it to your blog or website and get your friends and family to comment on your story. Once you’ve received 3 comments (they must be from 3 different people), you’re ready to come back to the iamenabled.com site and submit your URL in the comments section of this blog post. Five blog posts will be selected to win a Pure Digital 120-Minute Flip Video Ultra Camcorder.

So what will make your blog a winner? First, originality. Second, its ability to appeal to a broad spectrum of I Am Enabled readers. And, finally, how well it would play out on video.

That’s it.

So, warm up those blogging fingers and get ready to “Go Digital Get Digital.” Contest begins August 27 and has been extended through October 21, 2009.

Keep in mind that the “Go Digital Get Digital” Contest is only open to legal residents of the United States and District of Columbia. You must be 18 years of age or older. The “Go Digital Get Digital” Contest has been extended until October 21, 2009. For complete contest rules, click here.

  1. I am outraged that Microsoft and its partners would try to make money off the American tragedy we call health care. What good does it do to manage your health care when 40% or more of the US population you have no health insurance or doctor to visit. To offer a cheap gadget as a prize is nothing but an attempt by big business once again diverting attention from the real issues. Why doesn’t MS donate just 5% of its income from the sale of their operating systems to OEM and retail sources. This alone would set up a fund that could help millions of uninsured with some basic needs.

MS and its partners are just more evidence show in one more silly attempt to sell some software or advertising off the backs of the uninsured. America is losing its democratic processes to corporations and big business. We have become a one party country as bad as some totalitarian religious based countries. Only our religion is corporatism.

  2. Frank, I appreciate your position, however I respectfully disagree with you. While I am personally concerned with the volumes of individuals who cannot afford healthcare, I also believe that if those who do have it had the opportunity to take control of it, specifically their records, there would be significant cost savings that would impact how much we are charged in premiums. That, combined with the improved quality of care and reduced wasteful spending (elimination of tests and procedures) provided by the implementation of electronic health records, will make a significant impact in the current healthcare cash flow. There is no one thing that will completely cure the situation, otherwise it would have been identified, but this is a positive step. Giving people the ability to track their blood pressure, their fitness levels, their lung capacity, and a host of other data enables them to be a more informed patient. That, too, is an outstanding step forward. And not having to repeat your entire health history, over and over, as you navigate through an illness or an injury? Reassuring, especially for those of us caring for elderly relatives from a distance. There are many positives in personal health records.

I am so disgusted with the fear of loosing my health insurance if I loose my job that I have discided to go without health insurance if
I loose my job. I rather sign a DNA declaration instead of taking the alternative health plan and pay a thousand dollars a month out of pocket. I wrote a novel to see what will happen if a whole town does not take or buy health insurance even if they have been offered one. The health insurance company will loose atleast a couple of million in accounts. What do you think? Munir

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and my daughter has 25% of her kidneys functioning. I draw disability and Tiffany is on Peachcare. I just hope we are getting the best care we can because we don’t have much money. I am 50 years old and my daughter is 14 years old. Transplantation and Dialysis is in Tiffany, my daughters future. The scar tissue in 75% of her kidneys will not, cannot return to function again. Would like all the help I can get for my daughter. The unknown is ahead of us.

    Positive step my ass!

More like another profitable step by Microsoft!

@red I understand that MS has to deal with it’s not so positive perception but I am sadden to know that people are not taking advantage on what people can use this FREE service (having a personal health record online and have it readily accessible anywhere you go). It’s better to do something than nothing at all. Thanks to the team who came up with this idea. It’s about time, though a little late, to do something about managing and organizing people’s health records. I can’t wait for it to be widely implemented. Kudos!

  14. See the Movie JohnQ. It came out a while ago, but get a copy and see it.
    Cable T.V. runs it also.

My mom raves about her health care records on line and that she can access them. Me, well lets just say…I think my doctor rides a Dinosaur.

  18. This was a complex issue which required a good amount of research and thought. Thanks for the challenge! It was enjoyable, and important to convey a strong, positive message in finding better ways to manage health records. Best of all, I was able to keep my focus by keeping my eye on the prize! 【ツ】

  19. The question is, should we already be writing new posts about those subquestions and continuing discussion of them in properly separated threads? ,

  20. I find this so imperative with the way our medical records are being story Folder file instead of digital. I’d love to switch to online medical records.
